Lizard venom to obesity drugs. Malaria parasites to billion-dollar cancer treatments.
We’ve been bringing Imperial’s stories to life.
Imperial Enterprise sits behind an extraordinary range of research, companies and partnerships. The challenge wasn’t finding things to say. It was showing just how much is happening without losing the stories that make it matter.

The long chain
A $1.5bn exit makes a headline. The story behind it runs for more than twenty years, from malaria research to re-engineered cancer drugs.
20+ YEARS AGO Research begins Professor Ed Tate begins researching NMT inhibitors at Imperial – initially as a potential anti- malarial drug. THROUGHOUT Cancer Research UK Funding from day one supports the move from lab research towards potential cancer therapeutics. 2019 Myricx Bio founded Founded by Tate, Bell and Solari; co-founded by Imperial and the Francis Crick Institute. 2021 NMT inhibitors re-engineered Myricx adapts its drugs as payloads for antibody- drug conjugates, targeting treatment-resistant cancers. 2024 £90m Series A Under Dr Robin Carr, one of the largest rounds ever raised by a European academic biotech spinout. 2025 New CEO Mohit Rawat appointed Chief Executive; Carr moves to Chief Technology Officer. JULY 2026 Acquired Novartis acquires Myricx for up to $1.5bn – Imperial’s highest-value spinout exit.
What comes next
Imperial researchers are putting AI to work on problems that matter — predicting disease from ECG data, understanding new materials and changing how products are engineered.

Impact doesn’t always arrive as a company.
Research can change the air people breathe, the evidence governments act on and the health of whole communities. Imperial’s work reaches well beyond the lab.
